The tour aims to discover the huge historic, cultural and gastronomic heritage of Palermo, the capital city of the Island. It will start with the visit of the ancient “Capo” street market plunging into a past full of colors, scents and vendors’ shouts (i vuci). Walking through the market you will reach the Massimo theatre, the third opera house in Europe, and then you will continue to the ancient city centre toward the beautiful Norman cathedral, the four corners (i quattro canti), Piazza Pretoria, the city hall, the church of San Cataldo and the Church of Jesus (aka Martorana).
Later, you will head to Palazzo dei Normanni, the former Royal Palace now site of the Sicilian government. Inside the Palace you may visit the beautiful king’s rooms, the regional Parliament seat and the Cappella Palatina which is one of the most precious treasure of the town representing the coexistence of different cultures and religions.
During the tour you will have the chance to taste the famous sicilian street food which was ranked as the fourth best street food in the world.

In the afternoon, leaving Palermo, you’ll move towards Monreale to visit the Duomo, the highest example of the Arab-Norman art and architecture. The finest golden mosaics describe scenes of the Old and New Testament. The most astonishing mosaic is the one of the Christ Pantocrator on the vault of the apse.
Transfer back to the hotel.
